Jacob Miller is frustrated living in the shadow of his father, a famous sheriff in the old west. After years of being his deputy and suffering a series of brutal injuries, Jacob decides to run away. Using his mother’s maiden name and renouncing his status of “a man of the law,” he sets out to start a new life of his own and finds himself on the Olympic Peninsula, in the isolated Washington Territory.
Jacob soon enters a shadowy and savage world of lawlessness. A murderer is on the loose. Men are being kidnapped and forced to serve as sailors on ships. Whores cheat men of their wealth. A war brews between the native american tribe and the encroaching White Man. A marshall attempts to keep the peace, but order is mostly maintained by the backroom deals of unscrupulous characters. A young Native American attempts to guide his people through their changing situation and prevent bloodshed.
Despite his past, Jacob wants no part in establishing law and order. He focuses on overcoming the challenges of establishing his new life and navigating this treacherous world, otherwise, he may be forced back home by his father, who is surely looking for him….
